Nancy Hopkins Designs
I have a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati with a major in graphic design and illustration. After working as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator for 12 years for various local companies and publications, I left in 2000 to pursue a career as a Fine Artist.
Using low-relief, earthenware, I create intimately proportioned one-of-a-kind works. I embellish these with acrylic paint, grout and found objects. There is an underlying humorous or mysterious narrative attached to each one, stemming from my interest in children’s books and my sometimes offbeat aesthetic. In addition to these pieces, I also have a line of home and garden decor, the most popular of which, are my colorful and functional Madge Dishes©. Madge Dishes© are the perfect size to hold your most precious or most mundane objects. Each dish will delight the eye no matter what the contents.
My influences include a love of animals, gardening, contemporary illustration and an appreciation for the absurdities of everyday life.
You will find my work locally at the “Pendleton Levee Gallery” in Newport, KY; “Mango Arts” in Newport, KY and Mason, OH; A.R.T. Gallery in Wyoming, OH and “indigenous” in Obryonville, OH. In addition, I accept commissions for pet portraiture and custom tile work, such as, fireplace surrounds and kitchen backsplashes. Email: nhopkins@fuse.net or call: 513-919-2969
